This month ... Welcome to this month's internet safety update brought to you by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre. Certainly thousands of parents like you are now receiving these updates each month and as the police agency focused on protecting children online, we would encourage you to ask your friends and family to register to receive them as well - visit ceop.police.uk/parents to find out more. This month we focus on the resources that are available to you as a parent, as part of CEOP's education programme Thinkuknow. There are a number of products that we have created specifically for you - to better your knowledge of how children and young people use the internet, enabling you to empower your child to stay safer online. Frequently Asked Questions Here you will find a number of questions that we at CEOP are asked with regards to issues that you find worrying, or that you want more information on. Subjects covered include grooming and social networking sites and explain terminology that you may have heard but don't really understand. If you think there are some questions that we have not covered and you would like us to answer, please get in contact with us so we can add them to this section. Email purelyforparents@ceop.gov.uk. Webcast TV presenter and journalist Kirsty Young presents our unique Purely for Parents resource, where our Head of Education Helen Penn talks you through what children and young people are doing online and what you can do to help them continue their use of the internet safely. If you've not already watched it, make time and sit down with a cup of tea and see how much you know! Where's Klaus 'Where's Klaus' is a film that was created for parents to highlight that the same protection needs to be implemented whether we talk about online or offline environments. It's quite a comical film with a serious undertone that really makes you think about what you are doing to protect your children. Parental quiz Are you a switched on mum or a digital dad? Our quiz helps you find out exactly what you know, or don't know, about online environments and internet safety. If you've not already had a go at testing your knowledge - go one - the answers can be found if you get stuck! What can I do?
